Hi everyone,

Great news – I have finished my first draft!!

There is still plenty of work to do but it’s wonderful to have a ‘complete work’ … It’s been my dream to write a novel since I was ten years old and now I have!

My next step is to trim off the fat (it’s 360 pages long; or 120,000 words) and send it out to some chosen readers for feedback.

Welcome to my webpage. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Hello. I’m 110,000 words into the first draft of my first novel. It’s going well, it’s exciting, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do … but I need your help!

About six months ago, I decided to dedicate myself to finishing my first novel instead of focussing on paid work and trying to squeeze in bouts of writing when I had the time.

Almost immediately, I ran out of money – no surprises there! – so I started a website called Sponsor My Novel.

My goal is to raise NZ$8000 by asking friends, family, colleagues and book lovers to sponsor a page, a paragraph or sentence – as much or as little as they can afford.

This is not a get-rich-quick scheme but a writer asking for a helping hand.
